1. English works – sheet 7
2. Spelling words from sheet 7 – write them down and then do LSCWC with them. Really look at the word and make observations about the spelling eg. is it a compound word? is there a smaller word in there? Is it er or ur? Does it finish with es? does it have a word ending like “tion”?
3. The Great Race – week 4. Take your time to research the questions properly. Aim for an award this week.

1. Spelling city – learn your words – write them into your homework books, do LSCWC and then write them into sentences.
2. Photo boards – bring along your photos this week, to make your photo boards.

5. This week, go to this page on the English and Maths fun link and practice getting the right tense for your verbs. All of you need revision and practise in this area, so make sure you do the activities and save your certificate to paste into your homework books. You should be doing some sort of mental maths or literacy activity, every night.
Homework – week ending 7th November 2008
1. Spelling city – I have now added the H and I spelling lists to this site, so whatever words you would have been selecting from your lists, are now on the site. Select your list, write them into your homework books and do Look/say/cover/write/check on them. By the end of the week, you need to use these words in a sentence. This must be handed in on Friday. Use the Spelling city site to test your words and play games with your own word list.
2.Memories – have you completed your Graduation memories? If not, make sure you work on this at home

1. 15 spelling words – This week we are going to use Spelling City to learn our words. Click on one of the October lists for this week’s words. Until I can register our school, we will have to use the lists provided by the program. Do this every night. Also use your words in a sentence.

7. This one might take you 2 weeks. I want you to use a page in your Reflective Journals and write an Affirmative Alphabet. Come up with a word or words for each letter of the alphabet – but make sure they are affirmative or positive words. eg. A – awesome, amazing,
B – beautiful, bubbly C – cute, cuddly, etc You may wish to blog your alphabet. Check the spelling with each other or Ms Murnane.

- Spelling words – another 20. Make sure that you include the words you got wrong last week, as your words for this week as well.

| their | If you are not talking about “over there” and you can’t say “they are” then it must be this one. Their belongings – something belongs to somebody. It is personal. |
| off | The double “ff” gives this a soft sound |
| of | This word sounds like “ov” a much harder sound. |
| where | Where is that dictionary? Here, there or where? Another word to do with location – each of them contains the word “here”. |
| were | Pronounced “wer” – not talking about the location of something. A verb meaning past tense of was. |
| brought | Bring / brought – “br”. If you are talking about something you bring to school, you brought it. |
| bought | To buy something. |

Week Ending Friday 23rd May:
- Complete the two sheets on prepositions. Remember the hint for remembering what a preposition is? The word position, is in the word preposition. A preposition refers to position – on, over, under, between, across, beside etc.
- Select 20 spelling words from the difficult or challenging spelling words, to test each other out on Friday in buddy spelling. Use Look Say Cover Write check to make sure you can spell these words correctly.
- Use a dictionary to help you with the meaning of some of these words and then write each word in a sentence which demonstrates that you understand the meaning.
- 30 minutes reading each night. Go to bed half an hour earlier so that you can read.
- Watch the news so that you are up to date with google news each morning.
