Hey there Technokids. You told me that your parents would like to see crossword puzzles and jigsaws on the Parents and Friends page, so here it is. Tell mum and dad so that they know to check it out. Ask them what else they would like to see on this page and add their comments to this post.

You guessed it. I invite you to use the words to, too and two, in a couple of sentences. I suggest you hop to it quickly and write two sentences for me, before it’s too late.

Well technokids, those of you who attempted this quiz noticed that each of the words contained either double letters or letters which appeared twice, and Spacemonkey,  Skippy  and Luigi noticed that if you removed the first letter, the word could be read forwards or backwards (which is a palindrome).

BUT, nobody actually got the actual answer which was, if you remove the first letter of each word and put it at the end of the word, the word then read the same backwards, as it had forwards. Very tricky Mrs McCartney. Better luck with next week’s challenge kiddos.

This week, I invite you to accept a long term challenge.

• I would like you all to take one photo, each week, for the rest of the year, and paste it into your writing journals.
• Surprise, surprise - now I want you to write something about the photo.
• It may be captions, speech bubbles, poetry, descriptions, your thoughts, a letter, a list, an advertisement, I wonder… etc.
• You may wish to take a photo of the same thing each week (if there is the possibility of being able to notice change eg. a baby or a tree etc) or something interesting that you see quite randomly.
• Whatever you photograph, it must be inspirational to you - so that you can write something about it.
• Add the photo and your written response, to your blog.
• I will take part in this process as well. Why don’t you encourage mum and dad to do it as well. They could paste their photos in your writing journal, or better still, create a journal of their own.

In the comments section, write about your week in a sentence. My week in a sentence might be:

I had an exciting time watching children develop some great ideas for their projects.

Parents and friends are invited to write a sentence as well.

The Melbourne camp will take place on Wednesday August 27th to Friday August 29th. That means 2 nights and 3 days in Melbourne.

I will have the exact cost of the camp by the start of next week. Students will be allowed to bring spending money, of no more than $10 per day.

The itinerary looks like this:

DAY 1

7.00am - bus leaves Hawkesdale College - we will have a stop in Inverleigh for toilet and snacks

11.00am - arrive Melbourne - Scienceworks

11.30am - Planetarium at Scienceworks

12.45 - Melbourne River Cruise into city

1.00pm - own lunch on board cruise

2.00pm - Immigration Musuem

4.00pm - check in Melbourne Discovery

5.00pm - IMAX

6.30pm - Dinner - Universal Pizza on Lygon st

8.00pm - Movie at Melbourne Discovery Theaterette (we take our own DVD)

DAY 2

8.00am - Breakfast Melbourne Discovery (cereal, 1 toast, drink)

9.00am -Travel on - presentation by met travel

10.00am - Scavenger Hunt

11.30am - MCG - general tour and national sports museum (3.5 hours)

1.00pm - Packed lunch (from Melbourne Discovery)

3.30pm - Shrine of Remembrance

5.30pm - Dinner - Trios Southgate Food court

7.00pm - Eureka Skydeck

DAY 3

8.15am - breakfast (pack up rooms and bring bags down to the foyer)

9.00am - Queen Victoria Market

11.30am - Old Melbourne Gaol

12.30pm - depart for home

Mrs McCartney sent me this very cool word puzzle for our very smart technokids.  It is tricky, but there is a logical answer.  See if you can figure out what these words have in common. When you have done it, post your reply in the comments. Good luck. I will post the answer next week.
